Yesterday on the news, I overheard that more Brits were leaving the UK than ever before. There were a couple of brief interviews with people I've never heard of, and one of them was asked why so many were heading off to Australia, America or Spain rather than stay here in Blighty.
They said they didn't really know why, but it was probably due to the weather, increasing house prices, and lack of placements in good schools for their children.
Now that could well be true, but if anyone had bothered to ask me, I could have given them plenty more reasons why to fuck off leave before the ship sinks.

Such as -

Many people are pissed off at being forced to live in a 'Nanny State'. We don't need to be told that eating a fried breakfast washed down with a couple of pints of beer with a nicotine chaser is bad for us. It's our choice if we want our life expectancy shortened, so sod off, and tell someone who cares.

Taxes, especially the inheritance tax if it doesn't get abolished, are crippling people. As house prices increase and property areas that were once low get 'poshed up', people who inherit their family homes are being forced to sell as they can't afford to pay up almost half the price of the market value, and the council tax means that unless a person is on the breadline and/or out of work, they get no help towards payment and can face a prison sentence.

CCTV makes many people nervous that their almost every move is being recorded, and with the current laws being what they are, many people feel that they are the ones that are being treated like potential criminals, rather than being made to feel safe from the real ones.

The law is in the main an ass, and there is barely any justice in the country. How many times have you heard about people being sent to prison because they've been at the end of their tethers because of underage yobs terrorizing their homes and family with the police 'unable' to do anything about the situation, and then when they strike back, they get charged with assault quicker than you can blink. The 'law' seems to be there for the lawless.

The NHS, were once you could feel safe in the knowledge that you were in capable hands, is rapidly going down the pan with filthy hospitals, MRSA, and staff who are either to busy to help or simply don't care. I'm not saying that this is the case with all aspects of the NHS, but I've been there and know what it can be like empirically.

The smoking ban, and I know lots of you non-smokers are going to be jumping up and down cheering at this one, is a case of civil rights and freedom of choice being taken away. Why TF there couldn't simply have been a case for either smoking or non-smoking pubs beggers belief. I know that many pubs, especially those in town centres, are losing trade as they simply can't provide an outside smoking area. Again, why couldn't we have a choice in this matter?

Rising food prices are a joke, as is the cost of rail travel and general transport. Even with an oyster card, it cost a fortune to travel anywhere in London, and if you're unemployed it will take at least five pounds out of benefits to get anywhere. Without, it's even more pricy with a simple two bus journeys to a supermarket costing four pounds.

Owning and running a car is becoming more expensive all the time, and even if you can afford to drive one, the chances of being charged with an offence nowadays is very high, as even making an honest mistake can lead to you facing an £80 fine, which if you don't pay can lead to imprisonment.

I could also rant on about the gun laws (has the abolishment of handguns lead to less crime? has it, bollocks) rising house prices, more attention and care given to helping immigrants rather than those born here, overcrowding, ASBOs, rising crime rates, and the sense of fear that is rife in many areas, but I'd be here typing all day. Many days I don't want to be living here any more either. And I will agree that the weather here is shit right now. Bring on the Global warning, plz!.

Anyway, other than that, the good news is that thanks to the Government, it is now possible to purchase heroin for less than the price of a packet of cigarettes.

Think about that while I start packing.
